Design and validation of HVAC system of four wheeler
Air conditioning is integral part of any modern vehicle which customer desire. With growing popularity of electric vehicles, HVAC system must also provide cooling to batteries, electrical machines, and other electrical components. So, modern HVAC systems are very complex to design.
Mitsubishi, included 1D CFD simulation in design cycle, in the initial stages of design even before the CAD model is available. In initial phase of design, very limited data is available. 1D model of entire HVAC is modelled analyzed using Simcenter Flomaster. Hydraulic performance of system components, which not available from manufacturers, was based on work by British Hydraulic Research Group lead by D.S. Miller and published as Internal Flow Systems (third edition), which forms an integral part of the Simcenter Flomaster database. Upfront and early analysis in Flomaster goes hand in hand with CFD analysis later on, and also reduced effort during testing, prototyping and production stages.
